Random

This picture is of Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-LA. I really like it for some reason. It is of her walking into a press conference at the Senate Studio. I like the lighting, and the framing is nice, it feels balanced. It is also cool that she is looking at me and acknowledging that I was there, makes the photo a little more intimate and unique. It makes her feel a little more personable, it shows a side of a politician that most people don't see.

Catch the moment

This pictures is Orrin Hatch, R-UT, talking with Bono after the Tom Lantos memorial service. I was able to go to the floor after the service was over and I saw Bono on the floor and he was talking with people, I ran over so I could get a few shots. Out of the 20 photographers there I was one of 3 who got any of Bono talking with people. There is a slightly distracting blurry white thing at the bottom of the image, I think it is someones hair or something like that. I should probably take that out with photoshop if I were to use this image for print or a portfolio.

Framing

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot at the memorial service for Tom Lantos. The only place I was allowed during the service was on a walkway above Statuary Hall. I tried to incorporate a little of the environment to make this shot a little more interesting. The man speaking is Bono from U2.

Framing and Composition

This is another shot from the wedding reception. We were waiting for our food so I arranged the cups and the name tag and took a few shots. I think they worked out fairly well compositionally. I took one close and one wide for variety. I think I like the close one better, but they are both visually interesting.

Speed and Light

I was at a wedding this weekend and during the reception I had some down time to take a few pictures. This is a light thing the DJ had. The shutter speed was at 1/8 when I took the shot, I wanted to show some of the motion of the light. I also wanted to show the lights on the floor and that is why I framed the image the way I did. I think the lights in the foreground are really interesting.
